Vintage African,Baule Indigo Dyed Ikat, Strip Woven Scarf/58”x 23"
Beautiful, vintage scarf made from a hard to find indigo ikat dyed textile by the Baule people of the Ivory Coast and Ghana. I have separated a larger 10 strip, tightly handwoven work into a 5 strip beautiful scarf, for easier wearing than the original African skirts/wrappers. The strips in this cotton work are woven in a deep indigo blue and golden yellow, with orange at the strip edges, and colorful embroidered patterns at the ends. The Baule are only one of two peoples in West Africa that do ikat dyeing of their weaving thread. 23” x 58”; 1” fringe on either end with an embroidered seam across to prevent weaving from opening. Excellent condition: Strips A beautiful way to dress up your jeans outfit or any other type of dress! *Posting on behalf of my Mother, who is an African art collector. _gsrx_vers_851 (GS 7.0.17b2 (851))
